Staircase to the Moon

This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, which creates a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon.

The below information indicates the Staircase dates and times from March 2012.

Also known as Stairway to the Moon, the Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon where the full moon reflects of the tidal flats in Roebuck Bay at low tide. This event occurs for 3 nights on the full moon from March to October each year.
